Liverpool had to come from behind for the second consecutive week in the Premier League and depend on two stoppage-time goals to secure the three points in their 2-1 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Egyptian attacker, Trezeguet, gave the hosts the lead in the first half of what was an intriguing encounter.

The goal seemed to have shaken Liverpool, as they were less fluid in their play throughout the first 45 minutes.

The league leaders resumed with renewed vigour in the second half as they attacked relentlessly, but were unsuccessful in breaking down a determined Villa defence.

That, however, changed in stoppage time as left-back Andy Robertson equalised via a powerful header with four minutes left.

Senegalese striker, Sadio Mane, then provided the final, remarkable twist, glancing a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner past Villa’s goalkeeper, Tom Heaton, and into the far corner of the net in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

The win ensures that The Reds remain the only team not to have lost any game in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, Manchester City, the league’s defending champions, also had to fight back from a goal down to defeat Southampton 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Southampton had taken an unlikely early lead when James Ward-Prowse pounced on an Ederson error in the 13th minute.

City, however, had to wait until the 70th minute when Sergio Aguero hammered home a Kyle Walker cross.

Walker then turned scorer in the 86th minute after he connected with Angelino’s cross, which was not properly cleared, and volleyed home.

Meanwhile, in the last game played on Saturday Chelsea secured a 2-1 win over Watford.
