Liverpool thrashed West Ham to go second in the Premier League table.

Loris Karius denied Marko Arnautovic a shock early opener when he tipped the Austrian’s cheeky chip on to the crossbar.

The woodwork had already been struck at the other end thanks to Mohamed Salah’s firm strike amid a bright start.

And the Egyptian’s 29th-minute corner helped to break the deadlock.

German midfielder Emre Can popped up deep inside the box to head in, having escaped the attentions of Patrice Evra.

Salah had his usual goal just after half time, finishing across goal after rampaging play by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Roberto Firmino was gifted the third on 57 minutes after Adrian’s weak goal kick was returned towards his area with interest by Can.

The deficit was back to two a couple of minutes later, though, as Michail Antonio found space down the right channel before executing a neat shot past Karius.

Sadio Mane’s customary endeavor saw him strike the post with consecutive efforts in front of the Kop.

Happily for the African star, effort number two finally nestled into the back of the net.

Bournemouth 2-2 Newcastle

Dan Gosling stunned his former club as Bournemouth hit back to draw with Newcastle.

The Toon Army were ahead after a quarter of an hour as Dwight Gayle tapped in ex-Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie’s cross.

Gayle repeated the trick on the stroke of half time, this time after Ayoze Perez’s cross had gone straight through the legs of keeper Asmir Begovic.

Adam Smith lashed in for the home side off the crossbar to tee up a tasty last ten minutes.

And Gosling was on hand to force in and keep the Cherries ticking along in mid table.
