Real Madrid forced city rivals Atletico Madrid to a 0-0 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano, in the Madrid derby in Saturday’s league clash.

The draw means Real Madrid move to the top on the log on 15 points, while Atletico are third on 14 points.

Madrid went into the game hoping to make it three straight league wins, but could not breach Atletico’s goal despite bossing possession, 54 per cent to the home side’s 46 per cent.

Their best chance came with 15 minutes remaining through Karim Benzema, whose goal bound header was palmed away by the outstretched hand of Jan Oblak in goal for Atletico.

Portuguese exciting young forward, Joao Felix also went close for Atletico in the 39th minute but saw his shot from outside the box go just wide.

Summer signing, Eden Hazard, featured from the start for Real Madrid but was replaced in the 77th minute after a disappointing performance.
