Not less than 11 people have been reportedly killed while three sustained injuries in separate suicide attacks in Maiduguri.
As reported by TheCable, a security source said that two bombers detonated their explosives around Molai Kalamari at exactly 10pm on Tuesday.
He added that the second explosion took place at Sabongari Polo area of the state capital.
“I cannot specifically tell you whether the suicide bombers were male or female. But we have deployed emergency response team to the scene,” the source said.
Ibrahim Baba, a resident of Molai Kalamari, said the explosion occurred very close to his residence.
“We all woke up in fear and shock. The sound was loud as if it happened inside my house,” he said.
Boko Haram has renewed attacks in Maiduguri and its environs recently.
The last attack in the ancient city happened at a male hostel in the University of Maiduguri on Friday.
On Monday, Victor Isuku, public relations officer of the Borno police command, said the force had deployed 3,000 policemen as well as sniffer dogs to curtail suicide bomb attacks.
