A suicide bomber who was on a mission to unleash mayhem at Rumirgo Market in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, yesterday had his attempt foiled by a gallant vigilante group member.
The spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sani Usman, said the suspected suicide bomber heading to Rumirgo market was accosted by the ever vigilant and security conscious vigilante.
He said in the process of interrogation, the suspected terrorist blew himself up and died on the spot while the vigilante member who intercepted him sustained injuries and has been rushed to hospital for medical treatment by troops.
Col. Usman said the situation is under control as people go about their normal businesses while troops have has been placed on maximum alert to forestall further attack. The Army spokesperson appealed to the public to continue to be more vigilant and security conscious.
