A 28-year-old woman has been murdered and her baby abducted in the Obior community in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta state. The woman, Helen Ehianu, was found dead in a pit on March 24, 2018. Reports say her legs had been broken by the time her remains was found.

Samuel Ehianu, the deceased’s elder brother, told PUNCH Metro, that she had gone out with her friend, identified as Precious, but had not returned home. He said Precious had claimed she was taking Helen to a place in Ogwashi-Uku, where she could be cured of epilepsy, which she had been suffering from. He said she had insisted that the baby be brought with her. He explained that their mother had called Precious after they had not returned in the evening. To their surprise, she had told their mother that Helen was not interested in returning as she wanted to start a trade there.

Samuel said that was the last they heard from her. He said her corpse was found in a pit in Obior.  He noted that residents of the area, where the corpse was found, claimed that they heard a “strange sound” from the apartment of a man they suspected had a hand in her death. He explained that the suspect fled the community after the incident. He said he suspected Precious had a hand in the murder because they wanted to abduct her baby.

Andrew Aniamaka, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident saying the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
