While the death of Miss Vera Uwaila, a student of UNIBEN who was raped and murdered at her church in Edo state is still fresh and is being investigated, another 18 year old female student identified as Bello Barakat Mubarak has been raped and stabbed to death in Oyo State.
The deceased father, Kasimu Elepo, who had spoken with reporters, said he was not at home when the incident took place.
Elepo disclosed that the deceased’s sister was also out of the house at the time the sad event occurred.
According to him, sister to the victim found Barakat’s body at the back of the house in a pool of her blood when she returned from Quaranic lessons that fateful day.
He said, “I was not at home when the incident happened. The younger sister was not at home too, she went for Quaranic lessons but when she returned home, she saw her at the back of the house with deep cuts all over her body. She had been raped and killed.
“Somebody called me on the phone that I should come home but he refused to tell me what happened. When I got home, I saw that my daughter had been raped and stabbed to death.”
However, Elepo, who could not contain his emotions, revealed that the police in the area had begun an investigation into the matter.
Bello Barakat, was a year one student of Federal College of Animal Health and Production in Ibadan.
Reports gathered that the deceased has been buried according to Islamic rites.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have taken to the social media to demand #Justiceforbarakat.
