Manchester United would have hoped to continue their winning streak against Newcastle United, but that was not to be as the visitors held on to share the spoil.

United was dominant throughout the match, recording eight shots on target against none for Newcastle and raking up 70-30 possession advantage. Despite the stat, United could not beat Newcastle’s Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul and settled for just a point.

Van Gaal had this to say; “We can be satisfied with the performance but not the result,”

“We didn’t reward ourselves. I think we have created a lot of chances and we were unlucky.”

Tim  Krul made a host of top saves, including a one to deny Juan Mata in the first half and an even better one after the break to prevent substitute Javier Hernandez from snatching a winner.

Wayne Rooney did find the back of the net, but he was flagged offside despite replays suggesting otherwise
