Meiran building collapse leaves two dead

Two people have been confirmed dead from the collapse of a building under construction at No 7, Saidu Okeleji Street, Alaro, Meiran, Agbado, on Saturday.

Eyewitnesses said the building that was still under construction caved in at around 11:48 a.m.

Three people were said to have been trapped under the rubbles, with only one of them surviving the incident.

It was further revealed that the survivor is a five year-old-girl identified as Moyin. She was moved to General Hospital Ikeja by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

The dead include a 30-year-old mother identified as Basirat and her daughter, identified as Bisoye.

Their bodies were recovered and moved to the Mortuary by the State Environmental Monitoring Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU.

Meanwhile, Adesina Tiamiyu, the General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, said proper investigation would be conducted into the incident by the appropriate agencies.
