Buhari commends Umahi’s projects, as he visits Ebonyi

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, commended Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State for his numerous projects.

Buhari who had arrived in Ebonyi State amidst tight security in all parts of the State, did not mince words when he described the projects executed by Governor David Nweze Umahi as excellent projects.

According to the President tersely at the King David University of Medical Sciences in Uburu, “Thank you very much for associating the federal government with this excellent performance”, he said.

Speaking earlier, Governor David Nweze Umahi said the projects were executed through direct labour by Ebonyi people.

“It was constructed by us with the assistance of Mr President on those centres of excellence I mentioned. But this infrastructure is about three years old, constructed by our government through direct labour. Every piece of work you see here is done by our people”, Umahi said.

Buhari’s 2-day working visit was to commission projects executed by the state governor, Chief David Umahi.

It was gathered that thousands of security operatives were despatched to strategic places, especially at Uburu community, Ohaozara LGA and Onueke community, Ezza south LGA, where the President is to commission projects.

President Buhari is to commission Onueke Airport lounge, five kilometres dualised airport road, Shopping Mall, Buhari twin flyover bridge, Medical College Uburu, Margaret Umahi International Market, among others.

Meanwhile, there was panic in the early hours of Thursday in the state, as the factional group of the indigenous peoples of Biafra (IPOB), declared a 2-day sit-at-home in the 5 states of the southeast region.

The purported sit-at-home, according to investigation, resulted in the shutdown of banks and business institutions, as well as restricted movement of citizens in the region.

Similarly, President Muhammadu Buhari will be meeting with the stakeholders and political leaders of the southeast region on Friday, at the new government house centenary City Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state.

President Buhari according to investigation will be addressing lots of challenges militating against Igbo nation.
