The Deputy Minority Leader of the Nigerian Senate, Emmanuel Bwacha, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was disclosed by Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant on New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, via a tweet on his official Twitter page.
Ahmad wrote, “The Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the governing party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). The President has welcomed him this afternoon in Abuja.”
Governor Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), led Bwacha to President Muhammadu Buhari who received the senator to the ruling party on Thursday.
Bwacha is a three-term senator representing Taraba South. He attended University of Calabar where he studied Public Administration.
He was the commissioner for Agriculture in his home state of Taraba between 1999–2003.
Bwacha represented his Donga Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2003-2007.
In 2011, he was first elected into the senate, to represent Taraba South. He was then re-elected in 2015 and 2019.
