At least 8 people have been killed and several injured on Monday as earthquake struck the northeast India, making the residents run helter-skelter into the streets, going as far as hundred kilometers away from Bangladesh.
It was stated that 8 were killed in the course of the earthquake while 3 out of the 8 died of heart attack and stroke that followed the earthquake.
The India’s National Disaster Management Authority, Anurag Gupta, said buildings had been destroyed in Imphal, the state capital of Manipur where the earthquake centered.
An official in a main hospital in Imphal said over 50 people that sustained head injuries and limb fractures from the effect of the earthquake had been admitted.
It was said by a victim that the earthquake struck when almost everybody was asleep, one of the victims who is an undergraduate jumped from a fourth-floor balcony and he’s still in a critical condition.
It was also stated that similar occurrence had happened in the northeast India, in the city of Guwahati, where residents were shocked by the shaking of the earth that woke them up.
