Fire guts Christ Embassy Church in Lagos

The Fire Service of Lagos State confirmed that a section of the Christ Embassy Church on Oregun Road, Ikeja, Lagos was  razed by fire on Wednesday, destroying some property of the church.image

The fire was said to have started around 9pm after a spark in the switch room of the church.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire Service, Amodu Shakiru, confirmed the incident and appealed to residents of Lagos to be more safety conscious.

He said this incident and that of Alaba international market is not even up to a week before this happened.

Shakiru confirmed to newsmen that the quick response of officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, however, saved the day.

He explained further that the fire was put off within 30 minutes of active firefighting, adding that no life was lost.

He narrated how it happened, he said that they got a call about the incident around 9.08pm on Wednesday, the fire service deployed two 10,000 litres of water from their stations in Ikeja and Alausa.

When they got there it was discovered that the fire was on the topmost floor of the church’s three storeyed building.

It was an electrical spark in the switch room that triggered off the fire. In about 30 minutes, it was put out.
