Five people, including two children, have been abducted by gunmen who attacked some homes in Suleja, Niger state.
The gunmen raided Kwankwashe, a community located along Suleja-Madalla highway in Niger State. Suleja is about 30 minute’s drive to the federal capital territory (FCT).
Daily Trust reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.
The newspaper said Faith Lucky, a resident of Kwankwashe, said her children, a 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, were taken, after the gunmen pulled down the gate.
“I woke up my children immediately and made an attempt to glance toward them through my window. But within a few minutes they rushed towards there and broke part of the window’s burglary,” she reportedly said.
“They flashed light, and pointed a gun towards me, directing that I should open the room’s door.”
Lucky said she was robbed of her money and possessions before the gunmen kidnapped her children.
Another resident said she and her husband were able to escape but her brother-in-law was abducted by the gunmen.
“So my brother-in-law remained with mama who could not move away,” she said.
“That was how they abducted him and also took our other belongings like phones, laptops, as well as clothes and shoes.”
Two people were also abducted from a hotel in the area, a resident who simply identified himself as Ruben said.
Wasiu Abiodun, spokesman of the police in Niger, is yet to comment on the development.
