The appalling story of how 14-year-old Ese Oruru, who was in August 2015, allegedly abducted in Opolo, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, by one Yunusa, who hails from Kano, has elicited outrage on social media among Nigerians.
However, reports from PunchNG say she has been released and now in the custody of the federal government.
The success of the campaign and Ese’s release has been attributed to efforts by Nigerians who demanded her release and spurred the relevant authorities into action.
The release of the teen from her captor’s grip just a day after the campaign highlighted the determination of Nigerians who got to know about the shocking incident only on Sunday.
However, details of the FG’s plan to return the teen home and for the prosecution of those that violated the country’s laws are still being expected.
This evidently is great victory for social media again.
