Buhari returns to Nigeria after medical trip to London

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja from London, United Kingdom, a day before he was scheduled to return from his medical trip.

His plane landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 6:47pm.

Mr Buhari was in london to for medical reasons on the request of his doctor, the presidency said.

A tweet from the handle of the Presidency; @NGRPresident said “ President @MBuhari this evening returned to Abuja”.

Mr Buhari left Abuja on Tuesday on a four-day medical trip to the UK.

He had stayed in London for two days last week while returning from Washington, United States, where he met with President Donald Trump.

A statement by a presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Monday said, “In the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, the president had a meeting with his doctor.”

Mr Shehu said the doctor requested “the president to return for a meeting which he agreed to do.”

In the statement issued on Monday, Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, said on his return, the president would embark on a two-day visit to Jigawa state.

The visit was earlier postponed earlier as a result of the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress.
