Senator representing represents Lagos Central Senatorial District, Oluremi Tinubu, on Monday said that her husband, the national leader of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was dumped after the 2015 general elections.
The Senator is expressing her views after President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Bola Tinubu to reconcile warring and aggrieved party members ahead of the 2019 general elections, an assignment the former governor of Lagos state has since begun.
Remi Tinubu expressed displeasure with the treatment allegedly meted to her husband (Bola Tinubu), despite helping the APC win the presidency.
“I was hurt by what they did to my husband after the campaign. He didn’t say a thing. We were running three campaigns in my house,” she said when she featured on Your View, a breakfast show on Television Continental, TVC.
“But I saw somebody who has love for this country. I am not the type of woman who speaks in a man’s ear. If I want to do anything, I pray for him more. Occasionally, I will chip in. I said ‘you are still helping out, why are you helping out. He said ‘this country matters to me more’,” she said.
Remi Tinubu further stated that poor Nigerians still have trust in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
“…How many years has he (Buhari) been there? I am not campaigning for him. I am not; because I have looked at the dynamics; I will tell you: when it comes to integrity, Buhari has it. I don’t know about now,” she said.
Commenting on the 2019 presidential election, Tinubu said that “Buhari is still the candidate to beat.” She added that, “Change takes only one person to champion. And you need leadership.”
