Immunity for National Assembly leaders and the CJN?

It was gathered that the National Assembly is to begin a constitution amendment process, on that will ensure equal right for heads of the three arms of government. NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

This means that when the constitution is amended, The Senate President, the Deputy Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, his deputy and the Chief Justice of the Federation, (CJN) will all benefit.

We will recall that recently, the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, was arraigned by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, over the alleged falsification in his asset declaration over 10 years ago.

Although some sections of the public have labelled the trial of the Senate President as “political witch-hunt”, following his alleged stubbornness in contesting for the position of the Senate presidency, contrary to party decision.

The worries of external intervention in the issue of the National Assembly, has led the lawmakers ready themselves to begin the process of amending the 1999 Constitution to include the Senate President and his deputy, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and his deputy as well as the Chief Justice of the Federation in the immunity.
