Manchester United midfielder, Juan Mata, has agreed to extend his contract at the club.
The Spaniard’s contract was meant to expire on June 30, but it is reported that he will sign an extension in excess of one year.
Mata’s contract negotiation continued, even well after the season, unlike Ander Herrera, who left the club at the end of the season, and is set to join Paris Saint-Germain.
It is the second year in a row that United have agreed terms with a senior player after the season.
The club reached an agreement with former player, Marouane Fellaini, while he was away at the World Cup in June last year.
Mata moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea for a then-club record fee of £37.1 million in January 2014.
He has scored 45 goals in 218 appearances for the club, including the 2016 FA Cup final winning goal against Crystal Palace.
