Liverpool continued their Premier League winning streak after defeating Manchester United with a convincing 3-1 win at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool went 1-0 up at 24th minutes through Sadio Mane who superbly brought Fabinho’s clever lobbed pass before slotting past David De Gea.

In the 33rd minute United were back on level terms thanks to Jesse Lingard who reacted quickest after Alisson spilled a harmless cross from Romelu Lukaku.

Liverpool came out more purposeful in the second half and were rewarded on 73 minutes as Xherdan Shaqiri’ s shot came off Ashley Young hit the crossbar before ending in the net.

And with 10 minutes left Shaqiri got his second in the game as once again his shot on the edge of the United box hit Eric Bailly and beat De Gea to put Liverpool 3-1 ahead.

Liverpool leapfrogged Manchester City in the league and are now on 45 points while United are sixth on 26 points, 11 points off the top four place.

The Reds are the only side yet to taste defeat in the Premier League after 17 games played so far.

In another game played on Sunday, struggling Southampton has ended Arsenal’s 22-match unbeaten in a thrilling game at the St Mary’s Stadium.

The hosts took the lead twice in the first half thanks to Ings’ double as they went into the interval 2-1 up, but poor play after the restart allowed the Gunners to force themselves back into the match.

Mkhitaryan’s two goals twice got the Gunners level – once on either side of the break – but inspired changes by Hasenhuttl late on powered his side to victory as Long and Austin combined for the winning goal – a great headed finish after a wonderful chipped cross in the 85th minute.
