A Nigerian businessman, Obinna Onuoha, is set to unveil the biggest statue of Jesus in Africa, which he describe as a symbol of peace in a country filled with insurgents. He commissioned the 8.53metres(28ft) tall “Jesus de Greatest” statue in 2013 and hired Chinese company to use white marble to carve it out, the statue will be standing barefooted with outstretched arms.
Onuoha said he’s expecting about 1,000 people to grace the occasion on the New Year’s day and he had informed the police just to make sure neither people are attacked nor statue vandalised.
He added that he had the dream to build the giant statue since 1997.
