Super Eagles Head coach Gernot Rohr, has warned his team against being complacent as they prepare for the AFCON qualifiers double-header against Libya.
Rohr insists that the resignation of the coach of the Libyan team could spur a better performance from the team as they tackle the Eagles in Uyo on Saturday.
Coach Adel Amrouche had resigned from is position a couple of days ago over a case of unpaid wages.
But the Super Eagles trainer has warned that his resignation is not an advantage for the Eagles and charged the players to stay focused on the task at hand.
“The coach can change, but the players and his assistants are still there, so it won’t be an easy game because they changed the coach,” Rohr said.
“Sometimes it’s even more difficult when a new coach joins the team because the players then want to show what they can do.” he added
Coach Rohr named a star studded side for the encounter and reports indicates that majority of the stars invited are already in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Eagles midfielder John Ogu, insists the team is focused on getting the job done rather than concern themselves with happenings in the Libyan camp.
“We won’t be carried away by their problems,” he said.
“These things happen in football. We just want to remain focused because our target is to get the three points on Saturday before we start thinking of the next game on Tuesday.” he added.
Libya sit top of the group alongside South Africa with Four points each from two matches.
Nigeria is third with three points from two games and see both matches against the Mediterranean Knights as a must win if they must qualify.
The reverse fixture will be played in Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday.
Winning both matches would help the Eagles bid to avoid missing another AFCON tournament after failing to qualify for the last two.
