United Nations Foundation has awarded a Nigerian journalist with Gold prize for Development and Humanitarian Reporting.
The Nigerian journalist by name Augustina Armstrong Ogbonna, who is a freelance journalist with Radio Nigeria won the Gold medal for her reportage on abandoned costal communities that are at the receiving end on the effects of rise in sea level as well as threats of displacement.
The award was presented to her by the Secretary General of the United Nations in person of Mr. Ban Ki-moon, in New York at the 20th United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) Annual Awards for the best print, broadcast (TV and Radio) and online web-based media coverage of the United Nations (UN) agencies and field operations.
Tina, who has about 10years of experience as a multimedia and Environmental journalist who focus on abandoned communities across Nigeria, said she was humbled by the recognition from the UN, which serves as a push for her to work harder, especially on things that affects common man and development of the environment at large.
