PHOTOS: Police Uncover Fake Wine Factory In Lagos

Operatives of Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday uncovered a fake wine factory at an uncompleted building at Aboru area of Oke-Odo, Alagbado, Lagos.

Edgal Imohimi, the Commissioner of Police Lagos led the team to the factory owned by one Uju Daniel Ughanze, 47, who is unlicensed to run such business.

Imohimi told newsmen that the command got a credible information about the factory where assorted wine and alcoholic beverages are being produced.

The CP said he directed the Commander of Area ‘P’ in Alagbado to mobilize his men to the scene to search and seal the factory.

“My men executed the search and recovered the following items from the factory: four thousand bottles of already produced, packed and labeled adulterated wine of different brands, one thousand empty bottles, drums of different sizes, various chemical and reagents used as raw materials and other tools used in the production of the wines.”

“Ughanze who is from Obosi in Anambra State, lives in building he uses for both resident and factory with his wife and four (4) children.” he said.

The suspect lamenting in the background claimed he’s yet start selling the wines as he awaits the approval of NAFDAC. He said he uses just fermented fruits for production and the wines are not harmful to the health.

The CP warns Lagosians to be wary of the consumable they buy this yuletide season as people like Ughanze may flood the market with substandard goods.
