Police recover prohibited drugs worth N1.2bn in Kano

The Kano state Police Command has  recovered prohibited drugs worth N1.2 billion from dealers between October 25 and December 31, 2015.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Magaji Majiya, made the statement when he was informing the newsmen about the arrest of nine suspected drug traffickers.

He said 250 suspects were arrested with various quantities of drugs by the command within the period under review.

He included that the command recovered over one million bottles of Tutolin and Facalin cough syrup within the period also.

He said from the information gathered about 96% of consumers of the prohibited drugs were indigenes of Kano State.

Majiya emphasized that fighting against drug abuse in the state needs the cooperation of the public alongside with the relevant authorities.

He said that sequel to the high rate of rape cases being recorded in the state, the Commissioner of Police had organized special anti-rape squad comprising female police personnel to gather intelligence and information from the victims.

The PPRO restated the commitment of the command to prosecute anybody who breaks the law no matter their status in the society.
