Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, has made a promise that during his administration teachers won’t be sacked from the state civil service but if there’s need to reassign any teacher that’s not competent to be in classroom it shall be done without hesitation.
He also made this promise in his address at the annual national congress of the old Boys’ association of his Alma-mater, Government Secondary School, Dogon Daji.
Stating that from the begining of next budget, government will ensure impeccable training and retraining of teachers to update their knowledge by making them more knowledgeable in the modern teaching techniques because huge sums of money have been budgeted for that purpose.
He added that instead of teachers to be sacked, more qualified teachers needed to address shortfall in numbers will be employed. However, unqualified teachers that has nothing good to offer the students won’t be condoned in schools.
The Governor said, if after giving the teachers the necessary training and it was discovered that such teacher doesn’t have the capacity or enthusiasm to teach, such teacher shall be reassigned to an area where his/her expertise is most needed.
He also commended the executive of the association for its hardwork in the face of pressures and challenges. He solicited for support in government’s efforts to take Sokoto state to greater heights.
