Three secondary school principals were among five people who died in a motor accident, along Oyo-Ogbomoso Road, on Wednesday. One of the other victims was an account clerk.
The unnamed principals, one of who was of Caretaker Community High School, Ogbomoso, were reportedly returning from a workshop held at Oliveth High School, Oyo. A truck, while avoiding a ditch, reportedly hit the vehicle the affected principals were travelling on. Also, the injured were rushed to the BOWEN Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, for medical treatment.
However, Oluwaseun Onijala, the Deputy Route Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Sector Command, said only three people died, while 12 others sustained various degrees of injuries.
Onijala said: “Information that five people died in the accident may not be accurate but the accident happened along the Ogbomoso-Oyo Road on Wednesday evening.
“Information available is that three people died while 12 other people were rescued. The corpses have been deposited at Bowen Hospital mortuary. Those that were rescued have also been taken to Bowen Hospital.”
