FG to re-introduce toll gates

Nigeria’s Federal Government has reveled it’s plans to re-introduce toll gates, after it was scrapped by Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria, 15 years ago.

This was disclosed by the Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola, during the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), on Wednesday.

Lai Muhammed, the Minister of Information, also joined Fashola, saying that there is no law against til plazas, adding that some of the logistics that were been worked out before the re-introduction include acquiring more lands that will provide up-to 10 and plazas.

He also disclosed that the council have already approved the sum of 15.765 billion naira for two roads in the country, Suleja-Minna-Lambata road and Ibadan-Legere-Ilesa bypass.

The minister also said the two roads contracts that were approved are upward review from the internally approved tax.

12.6 billion naira was approved by FEC for the 101km Suleja-Minna-Lambata road, and the remaining 3.165 billion naira was approved for Ibadan-Legere-Ilesa road.
